Dorn Lift joins international Felbermayr Holding
April 18, 2023
In order to make better use of synergies and market potential, the Vorarlberg-based work platform dealer and rental company Dorn Lift GmbH will become a wholly-owned member of the holding company of the internationally active family-owned company Felbermayr from Wels on 1 May 2023 - provided the antitrust authorities give the go-ahead. For the 24 employees of Dorn Lift, everything remains unchanged. The advantages are additional development opportunities and a mutual exchange of knowledge. For customers and business partners, mainly commercial enterprises, there will be no changes for the time being. The company name Dorn Lift and the location in Lauterach will remain.
Expanding product portfolio and market share
Dorn Lift and Felbermayr have already had a successful business relationship for several years: They cooperate in the rental of working platforms, and Felbermayr also purchases machines from Dorn Lift - the Lauterach-based family business is in fact the general importer of Hinowa tracked working platforms for Austria and Germany, as well as for Multitel working platforms for Austria. “Dorn Lift is a very high priority for Felbermayr: The takeover will allow us to more than double our order volume for platform rentals in Vorarlberg. The segment of the working platform trade is also extremely interesting for us. We see a lot of synergies and opportunities here, especially due to the close-knit network of branches of the Felbermayr Group,” says Horst Felbermayr, Managing Director of the Felbermayr Group, outlining the motives behind the company acquisition. The closer cooperation resulting from the takeover will also bring further advantages for Dorn Lift: “This step means that our customers now have access to an even wider range of platforms, forklift trucks and cranes. We are expanding our service network and pooling our knowledge,” explains Evelyn Dorn, Managing Director of Dorn Lift.
Expansion of technical services in the DACH region
The Felbermayr Group has a total of 26 subsidiaries across Europe. The takeover expands Dorn Lift's service network. This is of particular benefit to the purchasers of technical services, as the Vorarlberg-based company used to offer the technical service for the Multitel truck-mounted and Hinowa crawler-mounted working platforms traded nationwide on its own. “We will use the network, our joint know-how and experience. Therefore, we are convinced that this step can only be beneficial for our clientele. Now we can act even more flexibly and quickly,” emphasises Managing Director Alexander Dorn. The business areas of work platform and forklift rental as well as technical services are integrated into Felbermayr Transport- und Hebetechnik GmbH & Co KG. The segment of trade with working platforms, in which Dorn Lift has already been successfully active for 50 years, will remain in Dorn Lift GmbH and will also be managed under this name.
Professionally accompanied integration process
A major concern of the Dorn and Felbermayr families is a constructive integration of the individual teams into the new group. Evelyn and Alexander Dorn will accompany this process intensively: “The Felbermayr Group has a lot of experience with such processes and has employees who professionally manage takeovers. Well-thought-out mergers can promote corporate success - Felbermayr has demonstrated this impressively in recent years. We are also happy to commit ourselves to this,” emphasises Alexander Dorn. Alexander and Evelyn Dorn will accompany this process together with Christoph Nüßler, the managing director of Felbermayr Transport- und Hebetechnik, who is active in Vorarlberg, and in future they will devote themselves specifically to the trade in new and used working platforms.
Workforce as the basis for success
Employees are highly valued at both Dorn Lift and Felbermayr. This is evidenced by their continuous investment in education and training: “The competence and expertise of our staff are assets that we will continue to rely on in the future. That is why we will continue to provide them with top professional training and also learn from each other. In the future, we will also be able to take advantage of the further training and development opportunities within the Felbermayr Group,” explains Evelyn Dorn. Qualified staff are being recruited in various areas and the teams are being expanded.
