Transportation by water

Environmentally friendly transport logistics by barge

Besides road and rail transport, Felbermayr’s complete special transport portfolio also includes water transport. We thus make our tri-modal portfolio in the field of special and heavy haulage complete.

Utilising a connection between water transport and the powerful special equipment of our road and rail transport sections, we implement efficient ro-ro (roll-on, roll-off) solutions with exceedingly high transport weights and dimensions. The loading and unloading points are thereby not necessarily limited to the existing port facilities. Thanks to our special push and transport boats and the use of mobile ro-ro ramps, unloading can take place at spots on the river located closer to the future installation site. With the heavy load vessel "Horst Felix" we have a self-propelled barge that is ideally adapted to the requirements of tri-modal transport. It has trim tanks and anchor piles and around 500 square metres of large working deck area.

But, we service much more than just the inland waterways of Europe. Using high-sea cargo vessels, heavy goods are transported to destinations in countries further away in cooperation with international shipping companies. Once they arrive there, Felbermayr’s entire special transport logistics are at hand and transfer to road or rail can begin.
