Groundbreaking ceremony for logistics warehouse

September 30, 2016 | Markus Lackner

The groundbreaking ceremony for a 3600-square-metre logistics warehouse in Wörgl took place at the end of September. Felbermayr, the heavy transport and lifting technology specialist, is acting as DB Schenker's building contractor and logistics partner in this undertaking. The dispatch warehouse and machine depot for GE Jenbacher gas engines is under construction.

It's all systems go for the new dispatch warehouse and machine depot in Wörgl: Alexander Winter, Member of the Board at DB Schenker in Austria and Southern Europe, Josef Schneider, Branch Manager of DB Schenker in Kufstein, and Martin Mühlbacher, Global Supply Chain and Site Manager of GE in Jenbach, are meeting today with Horst Felbermayr, the building contractor and logistics partner from the crane hire and heavy transport company of the same name, Wolfgang Schellerer, Felbermayr's Managing Director, Robert Bauer, Head of the Felbermayr subsidiary in Wörgl, and Hedwig Wechner, the mayor of Wörgl, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new 3600-square-metre logistics warehouse.

State-of-the-art warehousing and lifting technology

To enable the gas engines to be stored and transported with the utmost ease and facility, the warehouse will be equipped not only to the highest safety standards but also with the very latest (and most expensive) warehousing and lifting technologies. Two 40-ton cranes will be used to load the generators and a DB Schenker shuttle transport system will be set up between Jenbach and Wörgl. This will enable Jenbacher engines to be transported directly from the production line in Jenbach to the new logistics warehouse, where they will then be shipped (including accessories) all over the world. This warehouse will once again expand DB Schenker's presence in Tyrol and will create roughly eight new jobs.

Perfect partnership

"As one of the leading providers of systems, engines and services in the field of decentralised energy supply, we place great importance on precision and quality. We are delighted to be working with DB Schenker – they cater to our needs perfectly and never fail to meet our wide range of requirements," said Martin Mühlbacher, Global Supply Chain and Site Manager of GE in Jenbach at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new logistics warehouse in Wörgl. Alexander Winter, Member of the Board at DB Schenker in Austria and Southern Europe, was equally excited: "We're really proud to be working with GE in Jenbach. With the new warehouse and our strong global network, we will be able to tackle any and every logistics challenge while providing a seamless transport flow." Building contractor Horst Felbermayr continued: "The warehouse has been designed to make use of state-of-the-art technology. We are looking forward to the project and to working together with GE Jenbacher and DB Schenker as their logistics partner."
