Large-scale gantry crane project for France

June 23, 2014

In the first half of 2014, Bau-Trans GmbH was commissioned with the transport of four gantry cranes by Hans Künz GmbH.

The destination of the four crane systems was the new tri-modal port of Sandouville close to LeHavre in France. The cranes had been made at various production sites in Austria, Poland and Slovakia. Lengths of roughly 41 metres and widths of up to 5.95 metres turned the transports into a real challenge. The demanding transport route of some 2,000 kilometres ran right across Europe.

“In the framework of such big projects, minute preparation is key,” Sales and Project Manager Harald Achenrainer reports. Several route inspections and technical drawings were used to examine the feasibility first. All transports were then handled in a matter of three months. “In the context of such demanding projects, it is essential that all people involved work hand in hand. The entire team must give its best to ensure the project’s successful implementation,” Achenrainer continues.

In mid-May and bang on schedule, the last parts were delivered to the construction site. “Bau-Trans GmbH would like to thank its customer Hans Künz GmbH for its trust and is pleased about the customer’s satisfaction after completed work,” Achenrainer concludes.
