The Welser expert for high-quality stone works impressed the jury with an extraordinary residential project, clad with large-format natural and porcelain tiles.
“This award not only recognizes the quality of our work, but also the passion and craftsmanship that our team brings to every detail,” says Stefan Hielle, managing director of Felbermayr Construction. Together with the West-Asphalt project managers, he received the award on November 6 at the ceremony at the Upper Austrian Trade and Crafts Gala at the Wels Exhibition Center.
Aesthetics and Functionality
The West-Asphalt project impressed with around 1,200 natural stone slabs weighing up to 230 kilograms, which were placed with millimetre precision on a total of 46 façade surfaces. Plus another 300 for indoor and outdoor floors. Almost every panel is unique, which was visualized using a computer based on the client's ideas and custom-made at the mining site in Bavaria. “Natural stone is becoming increasingly important in modern architecture. The naturally occurring building material is considered to be particularly resource-saving, robust and weather-resistant. It also gives objects a particularly elegant look,” explains project manager Reinhold Wersching from West-Asphalt. In addition, the stone craftsmen designed 21 natural stone sections as privacy and shading, as well as paneling for the garage door and an outdoor kitchen.
The Upper Austrian Crafts Prize honors outstanding craftsmanship and has been awarded by Raiffeisenlandesbank OÖ and the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce since 1990. Since 2011, the prize has been awarded in four categories and is endowed with a total of 20,000 euros. The first place winner receives 2,500 euros in prize money.
