With the new Seiersberg-Pirka branch, Felbermayr is creating a modern location for Styria. Following an intensive development and approval phase, the new headquarters for transport and lifting technology is being built on a 50,000 square meter plot of land. The building built by Felbermayr Bau is planned to be completed in summer 2026.

On April 24, the official groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of one of the largest infrastructure projects in the company's over 80-year history. The new head office for Styria is being built in the Seiersberg-Pirka industrial park south of Graz. After three years of development and approval, the construction project is currently in the construction phase. “Demand in Styria is growing and we need more space — both for our employees and for our vehicles and equipment,” explains Wolfgang Schellerer, Managing Director of Transport and Lifting Technology, and continues, “With the new building, we are creating the conditions for further growth and future-oriented organization of our processes. ”

Central location with clear advantages
The new location offers what is crucial for daily operations: short distances and optimal accessibility. The direct connection to the motorway in both directions enables rapid dispatch of large equipment and heavy transport. At the same time, the site is located in close proximity to Graz and thus in one of Austria's most economically strongest metropolitan areas. The construction of the new branch is being coordinated by Mr. Benedikt Linimayr, Technical Director of Felbermayr Real Estate Development. “With the new building, we want to strengthen our location in Styria and also create an attractive working environment,” emphasizes Elisabeth Felbermayr-Schierl, who has decisively pushed the project forward.

Sustainable construction and complex implementation
The construction specialists at Felbermayr led by construction manager Robert Grundner ensure precise and timely implementation. “Due to complex soil conditions, conventional shallow foundations were not possible,” explains Grundner. Instead, a combination of concrete tamping columns and vibrating plug compaction was used — a technically sophisticated special foundation that permanently stabilizes the subsoil and provides a solid foundation. The construction of the halls in particular impressively demonstrates Felbermayr's construction expertise. Large-format supporting fields are created with trusses of up to 42 tons and a wingspan of 30 meters. In addition, molded foundation solutions on the hall supports reduce installation times and optimize load transfer. In addition, extensive functional buildings are being built for future operation. For example, a 27-meter long assembly pit and a filling station with a capacity of 15,000 liters for AdBlue and just over 85,000 liters of diesel are being built on the workshop site. This ambitious construction project is being implemented by a sky-blue armada of vehicles and equipment. The line-up ranges from 450-ton truck-mounted cranes to mobile cranes with a payload of 40 to 250 tons to 30-ton excavators, propellers and — in peak phase — around 25 risers and numerous working platforms. For materials and equipment logistics alone, over 1,000 transports were coordinated by the end of the shell construction.

Architecture with vision The architecture firm Benesch/Stögmüller from Wels is responsible
for the architectural planning. The clear, functional design is designed to meet the requirements of a modern operating location. The complex of buildings is complemented by a 5,400 square meter workshop, two garages with an area of more than one hectare and a warehouse of around 3,000 square meters. Once completed, the Seiersberg-Pirka site offers sufficient space for offices, workshops and warehouses on a total of 20,000 square meters of built-in space. This includes around 72 truck and 166 car parking spaces. Particularly noteworthy is the spacious office space of around 1,700 square meters, which enables flexible team distribution and further staff growth. “All roof areas will be greened and one of the garages will have a photovoltaic system with a maximum output of 480 kilowatts peak,” reports Felbermayr-Schierl and emphasizes, “We attach great importance to combining ecological responsibility with functionality.” For Konrad Vollmann, Styria Transport, Crane, Stage, Delivery and Storage Division, the new branch symbolizes the departure of a new generation of operations Locations: “The generous space planning allows us to be significantly more efficient organization. At the same time, our employees benefit from modern premises and improved workplace quality.” According to the current schedule, the new branch is to be completed by summer 2026.
