In addition to achieving organic growth, Felbermayr also wants to gain market share in the German work platform market through takeovers. One example of this is the takeover of SGL GmbH, based in Giesen near Hildesheim. The work platform rental company, which also has a branch office in Goslar, employs a staff of eight and owns more than 100 access equipment units. These have recently been incorporated into the Felbermayr rental program. “This gives us the ideal springboard for providing our range of services in the Hanover metropolitan region, as well as in the traditional industrial locations in the Harz region,” explains Kulawik confidently.
Achieving success with quality leadership
“We will continue to pursue SGL’s highly successful strategic approach with the support of the Felbermayr Group,” says Kulawik, adding that SGL’s reliability and wide-ranging service portfolio will continue to earn it a reputation among rental customers. The rental range of the work platform rental company covers everything from scissors and mast platforms to articulated/telescopic platforms and truck platforms and telescopic forklifts. In addition, the company also has construction machinery such as wheel loaders and mini excavators in its rental fleet.
SGL remains independent
“I am delighted to be working with Felbermayr,” says SGL founder Tim Werner Schönherr, who founded the company in 2014 and will now remain with the company as branch manager. The 40-year-old will continue to look after his customers using the SGL brand name, however. “We will continue to trade as SGL. But now that we are part of the Felbermayr Group, we will be able to cater to customer requirements in an even more effective and flexible manner,” explains Schönherr with conviction. For Schönherr, the fact that SGL can remain a member of the PartnerLIFT rental organisation is also essential. “We will work together to assess the potential for future cooperation between the Felbermayr Group and PartnerLIFT in the coming months,” says Kai Schliephake – Managing Director of PartnerLIFT.
Kulawik and Schönherr see eye to eye not only in terms of the quality of the rental range, but also in terms of safety. Thus, the training opportunities offered at Felbermayr in accordance with the IPAF standard are to be adopted for the German market and at SGL in particular.
