Felbermayr takes over Wels-based construction company WEST-ASPHALT
July 15, 2021 | Markus Lackner
The solid company has operated successfully on the market for several decades and was up for sale due to the succession planning of the founder and managing director Reinhold Wersching. "We examined a number of offers and ultimately concluded that Felbermayr was the best option for us." For Wersching, this was also the best solution for his 40 employees, as is apparent from Felbermayr's recent takeover of the landscaping company Danner.
Employees are the most valuable asset
"WEST-ASPHALT has outstanding employees, that is the most important asset," emphasises CEO Horst Felbermayr of Felbermayr Holding, adding that machinery and equipment played a secondary role in the acquisition. For Felbermayr, the quality of the work was the most significant argument in favour of the takeover. Expertise in the area of square design, the construction of natural stone walls and natural stonework, as well as natural stone laying in general, are further valuable additions to the range of services offered by Felbermayr Bau.
These skills can be seen in the redesign of Kaiser Josef Platz in Wels, a successful collaboration that has already taken place with Felbermayr Tiefbau. Managing Director of Felbermayr Bau Stefan Hielle comments: "We would not have been able to do the paving work on Kaiser Josef Platz due to a lack of expertise, whilst the construction project would have been difficult for WEST-ASPHALT to handle due to the sheer scale of the task. But together we succeeded," affirms Hielle, adding that for him the craftsmanship and empathy of the employees with regard to customer issues were particularly strong arguments in favour of pushing ahead with the takeover.
For the 40 employees of WEST-ASPHALT, the takeover by Felbermayr means a secure job in a familiar environment with head office in Mitterfeldstraße, Wels. "It allows me to retire with peace of mind after the agreed transition phase, and feel confident about the secure future of my employees," Wersching is delighted with the outcome.
