Sewer rehabilitation using a “pipe-in-pipe” system

In Vienna, an investigation into a sewer system that was over 100 years old revealed an urgent need for renovation and the modern relining process was chosen.

In order to be able to replace the existing concrete profile as cost-effectively and time-efficiently as possible, the so-called relining process was used as a renovation process. This involves drawing a new, slightly smaller pipe into the existing sewer. For this purpose, the new pipe is inserted into the ground via an assembly pit and pulled in with a cable winch. The annular gap between Neurohr and the old stock is then filled with grouting mortar without cavities.

Thanks to the special refurbishment process, work on the approximately 1,000 meter long route was completed in March 2024 after just six months. In addition to the short construction period, the low traffic obstructions are also among the advantages of this form of sewer rehabilitation.
